Presented is an extremely scarce 1945-46 Cienfuego Baseball Club 6x4 team-photograph. The pictured Cuban squad is noteworthy for featuring the legendary Martin Dihigo, who was affectionately known as the Maestro as well as el Immortal and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977, six years after his death. More importantly, the fantastic relic has been signed by Cuban legend Silvio Garcia (d.1977, 6). Garcia was considered by Branch Rickey to be the player to break the color-barrier before the eventual inclusion of Jackie Robinson into the big leagues. Examples of his signature rarely surface. The photograph itself displays a clear image, a Cienfuego BBC, 1945-46 notation on the reverse and is in overall attractive lower-middle grade condition.
