Presented is a dated 1927 Honus Wagner signature that is placed on the stationery of the Sporting Goods company that bares the Flying Dutchman’s name. The content of this approximately 8 1/2 x 11 typed letter is to inform the principal of a Pennsylvanian high school of Wagner’s inability to attend a school sponsored banquet. The black fountain pen endorsement is signed by Wagner using his given name, with the signature grading an (“8”). The delicate ephemera is folded in six places, with one barely affecting the Hall of Famer’s surname. This interesting piece of correspondence comes with an auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
