The 1941 World Series, the first of seven "Subway Series" between these crosstown rivals, became famous in baseball lore when Dodgers catcher Mickey Owens dropped a third strike in the ninth inning of the fourth game, giving the Yanks a chance to come back and win the game and sending them on their way to the Championship in five games.
