A true scarcity among game-used memorabilia are early Dodgers jerseys. Offered is one of the rare finds, a 1958 game-used Los Angeles Dodgers home jersey, from their first year in LA. The allure does not end there - this particular jersey is that of four-time All Star, Frank "Hondo" Howard, the 1960 NL Rookie of the Year, who hit 23 home runs and drove in 77 runs in his first full year with the club. Howard actually debuted on September 10, 1958 and played in 8 games for the Dodgers followed by just 9 games in 1959, before his first full year in 1960. Certainly, the earliest known Frank Howard jersey is presented in stunning condition. A Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel manufacturers tag sits on the bottom left shirt tail, along with the size 48 tag and a Howard 58 blue chain-stitched name below. Dodgers is scripted in blue across the chest with a red 25 on the front and a blue 25 on the back. There is some nice game use and his signature is placed on the front right breast. According to the 9/11/03 dated letter of authenticity from David Bushing Collectibles, there have been no alterations or repairs to this magnificent piece. A game-used, rookie-year, first-year-in-LA jersey of a four-time All-Star and one of the more popular players not in Cooperstown - that is a winning combination!
