Elected as the starter to the All-Century Team, Mike Schmidt is widely considered the greatest all-around third baseman in baseball history. His (10) Gold Glove awards aside, he is the best power-hitting player ever to play the hot corner. Schmidt set the National mark in 1974 with 404 assists and nearly tied his own record in 1977 with 396. Schmidt's hitting and fielding led the Phillies to six playoff births with none more satisfying than the 1980 World Series victory, which netted Schmidt both the World Series and regular season MVP Awards. The offered glove dates from this historic 1980 season and is stamped ”Gold Glove Series, KBB01, PRO 6X-HC.” This Rawlings-made gamer is comprised of the highest-grade leather with ”Heart of the Hide” stamped in the palm. Still evident is where Schmidt wrote his uniform number 20 just below the back of the webbing. Schmidt's name is also penned in the wrist strap in black marker. The glove shows remarkable game-usage.
