A battalion of baseball royalty assembled at Comiskey Park, “Baseball Palace of the World” for the 1933 All-Star game. Intended as a one-time affair, the initial contest was so popular that the “Midsummer Classic” became an annual event. The American League proved victorious, 4-2, in a game that witnessed a titanic clout from Babe Ruth. The offered scorecard and ticket stub are spectacular mementos from the pioneering effort. The gatefold scorecard grades (VG) with moderate creasing, spine stress and a pair of light pencil insertions. The accompanying ticket stub details the “benefit” game in period fountain pen. Also present is a dated 1973 scorecard (NM) that commemorates the fortieth anniversary of the event.
