The inaugural class of baseball's immortals assembled at Cooperstown, New York and an exhibition game was held on 6/12/39 at Doubleday Field as part of the ceremonies. Major League players packed the rosters for managers Eddie Collins and Honus Wagner, fittingly called "The Collins'" and "The Wagners." The two teams were hand-picked by each manager and featured a mix of American and National League stars, including Babe Ruth, Charlie Gehringer, Joe Medwick, Lloyd Waner, Billy Herman, Mel Ott, Hank Greenberg, and Lefty Grove . Babe Ruth, four years removed from the game, made an honorary appearance, pinch-hitting for Collins' squad. Presented are (16) 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 original photographs from the game. Contained within are images of Ruth batting, Lefty Grove and Dizzy Dean warming-up, Connie Mack and Cy Young marching in a parade and a pair of images of Hank Greenberg hitting. The photographs are in EX-MT or better condition with only mild wear present.

Note: Babe Ruth is pictured in his only appearance ever on Doubleday Field
