Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, was the site of the 1922 British Open where the legendary Walter Hagen made up a two-stroke deficit to claim one of his eleven Major victories. Presented is a lovely black and white Bain News Service photograph depicting Hagen finely dressed with a back-caption reading Walter Hagen, leading in golf at Sandwich, June 23, 1922. The photograph measures 5x7, displays crisp registration and all of the corresponding news service back-stampings. The upper right corner of the image displays more wear than it counterparts, while its generally smooth edges and clean appearance only add to the aesthetic appeal. Otherwise very attractive with no creasing, tears or other obtrusive imperfections, this vintage golf relic will be a prized possession for generations to come.
