It would take years to assemble the run of forty consecutive Senators/Nationals scorecards (1932-1971) that make up the core of this collection, most fully scored and containing a virtual who's who of great teams and stars of the period. Incredibly, the 1953 scorecard, fully scored and dated, just happens to be for the April 17 game in which Mickey Mantle blasted his legendary 565-foot home run (EX), listed by the Guinness Book Of Records as the longest in baseball history. An additional eight special scorecards and programs are also featured, most notably a 1922 example with Walter Johnson pitching (FR), 1923 (FR), 1932 Bicentennial Game exhibition (FR), 1947 Walter Johnson Memorial Unveiling (VG), 1953 Eddie Yost Day (EX), 1960 Old-Timers Day (EX), and 1968 and 1970 (Ted Williams cover) spring training games (EX). With a total of (49) scorecards in all, this grouping is destined to be in the hands of a dedicated Senators fan.
