Providing the foundation for the 1934-36 R318 Batter-Up cards are these 1934 and 1935 trademark and copyright certificates. The three-page trademark for the product released under the National Chicle Company was approved on 5/21/35 and given an expiration date of twenty years. The single-page label trademark was issued 6/5/34 and given the expiration date of 5/5/62. These approximately 12x8 declarations are accompanied by the moderately worn original envelopes. The ephemera is lightly soiled and is accompanied by signatures of the appropriate government authorities. Also present are two single-page letters from the Thomson & Thomson Law Firm regarding the process. This lot comes with a letter of authenticity from William Thompson, son of George Thompson, former owner of the Goudey Company until its closing in 1962; these items came directly from the Goudey Gum archives.
